Learn to create closed terrariums and take home your own miniature indoor garden at the end of this workshop.
Closed terrariums create a special humid environment similar to the of the tropics. Glass containers allow both heat and light to enter a terrarium, generating conditions that create condensation and photosynthesis, both vital aspects of plant growth.
Join us in this interactive workshop to create your own miniature world to take home and enjoy. We will guide you in selecting appropriate plants, making your own tools and teaching you the steps involved in construction and care.
What to bring: All materials including plants, decoration and glass container will be provided for you to create your own miniature world. If you wish, bring your own small toys/figures (no taller than 10cm) if you'd like to include these in your terrarium.
Who should attend? Adults (16+) who enjoy plants and want to explore a new form of close-contact gardening.
From the tutor Thiago: I have worked with sustainability since 2011 and started to make terrariums six years ago. I like the closed terrarium because I can see how nature behaves. I like to imagine that is how things would be in our planet without us.
Our mission is to provide quality affordable and accessible lifelong learning opportunities for our community.
