This day is on the day of the 250th Anniversary of the arrival of HMB Endeavour and 97 men at Meretoto – Ship Cove.

We are offering you a special trip run by historians, with extra material of interest including maps, photographs, stories, diary readings, artifacts, and a Brown Bess musket demonstration.

Departs Beachcomber Wharf Picton at 8am and returns 5pm. Join us as we mark 250 years since the Endeavour was in the Sounds.

Local Historian John Orchard QSM will lead this trip, with contributions from other specialists. John is a recipient of multiple awards recognising his services to heritage preservation, and education, over many decades.

Cook visited many parts of Totaranui – Queen Charlotte Sound. We will go ashore at Motuara Island, Meretoto-Ship Cove and Wharehunga Bay, as well as sit offshore of Hippa Island, Cannibal Cove, Shag Cove, Bald Hill and Amerikawhati Island.

Bring appropriate clothing, lunch, water, snacks, sun protection. Tea and coffee supplied. Time will be spent on Motuara Island Reserve, so ensure your footwear is clean and there are no seeds attached to your clothing.

$50 for Marlborough Historical Society Members early bird offer until December 31st, then $65.
$60 for those who are not Marlborough Historical Society Members early birds offer until December 31st, then $75.
