Guest musician - Sally Stockwell

No stranger to the entertainment industry, Sally has worked as an actor for two decades whilst quietly honing her craft as a singer song writer. She amalgamates her love of both worlds by creating unique ‘theatre gigs’; weaving song, poetry, soundscape and story into a dynamic and heartfelt delivery.

"The breakthrough moments are amazing destinations, but it was the underlying current of melancholy and longing in the compositions that had me hooked." - NZ Musician

Sally’s eclectic style reflects her music inspirations such as Kate Bush, Joan As Policewoman and Nick Cave…" sitting somewhere between sophisticated chamber-folk and low key cabaret… in the wake of people like Marianne Faithfull and Tom Waits." - Graham Reid; Elsewhere

"Stockwell is the star of the show… her voice is flat-out incredible. It serves her own music well, as you might expect, but it carries the play offstage and right into the audience." - Lumiere

Her recent work was inspired by motherhood and lays bare very personal, yet universal themes of womanhood. Fusing electronic music and self-operated sounds Sally takes us on a passionate journey to human connection.

"A thoroughly engaging artist with the spirit of a genuine songwriter, an astute eye for telling detail and a lyrical vocabulary deeper than most… Definitely not an actress just having a dalliance in music." - Graham Reid; Elsewhere
