Mairangi Arts Centre's school holiday art programme offers a wonderful range of classes for budding young artists aged 5-16 years old. Classes are designed to be fun yet at the same time educational so there will be lots of opportunities to pick up useful art techniques.

There are sixteen classes on offer which cover a range of media including clay, wearable art, eco print, three-dimensional mixed media construction, collage, painting, silk screen printing and drawing.

Students can Imagine what alien life would look like then design an imaginary planet using mixed media and collage or express themselves with colours by using paint to explore colour mixing, shades and tints. Make a sign for the wall with an inspirational quote, create foods from your culture (eg. fried eggs, noodles, pasta and fries and much more) with clay. Explore the basics of construction using found objects, paper, glue and mixed media to create huts, houses and other structures. Or collaborate to create a small scale community.

Each child will build part of the community eg. a park, swimming pool, birds and animals. Or use silk screen to overprint three colours to create a wearable art in your own unique style. The possibilities are endless and the only limit is your imagination!

Students in select classes in the January programme will have the chance to create artworks to be exhibited in the concurrent youth exhibition, 'My Culture, My Family, Myself.' Class prices include materials as well as tuition and include a supervised lunch break. (Own lunch and drink required).
