Brazilian samba, bossa nova and Latin rhythms.
Chicama is a naturally occurring phenomena, just like this trio that came together to celebrate the music of Joblim and Michelle Legrand.
Chicama plays the delicate, joyous, passionate and romantic Brazilian samba, bossa nova and Latin rhythms of these masters. The trio authentically pervades textures and improvisation taking audiences to a whole new world of Latin jazz. For New Zealand horn player Geoff Culverwell, the love of this music started long ago whilst playing a soloist feature track "Spanish gypsy" on 1981 album The New York Tapes by the Roger Fox Big Band.
The trio is rounded out with local guitarists Robert Kingi and Tippy, making it a very cool way to spend a couple of hours.
