Kintsugi (or Kintsukuroi) is the Japanese art of repairing broken objects. Loosely translating to ‘golden joinery’, kintsugi values breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, using lacquer and powdered metal to make visible repairs.

Learn how to piece your broken ceramics back together with beauty in this workshop led by Yuka O’Shannessy.

Japanese tea and a complimentary snack will be provided.

About Yuka: Tokyo-born Yuka O’Shannessy is dedicated to connecting people and craft. As the founder of Public Record, she shares work by local and international artisans and teaches traditional techniques that help preserve goods for life.

Maximum attendance per session: 14

Need to know:
- Please bring your own broken object; it could be a plate, cup or vase that holds meaning for you, or head to an op-shop and break one yourself. Ensure you don’t pick something too complicated. Yuka will supply some broken ceramics as well just in case.
- If you are a Gallery Member with a valid guest pass, you can bring a friend for the Members price.
- The non-Members price includes a one-year Gallery membership
- This event takes place in the Studio on the lower ground level.
