October is Save Kiwi Month and we are celebrating the arrival of Ātaahua and Puha’s first kiwi chick! There are kiwi themed activities and a competition to name the chick for you chance to win a Kiwi Night Encounter for your family.
We also have special spring savings on admissions so pack a picnic and come and enjoy a fun family day out in nature!
Our new ‘Bird’s Eye Trail’ will give you the opportunity to view Ngā Manu plants through the eyes of birds as you explore our network of all-weather, buggy friendly trails. You will experience both forest and wetland habitats and our walk-through aviaries and nocturnal house offer close-up encounters with our rare NZ wildlife.
- 2 pm everyday rain or shine you can watch the Ngā Manu eels being fed – purchase an eel feeding token for $2 to have a go at feeding an eel yourself.
- Join our free guided forest walk at 2:15pm - meet at our eel pond after the eel feeding.
- To enjoy some close encounters book onto our Feed Out Tour at 11 am to get up close and personal with our birds - call 04 2934131 to book.
Please note: The kiwi chick will not be on public display until it has settled in and then it's enclosure will be viewable on Kiwi Night Encounters.
