Business Central are proud to present this half-day leadership development workshop.

Many teams and businesses have changed dramatically since January, with a lot of people in new roles or taking on leadership positions.

Our members are asking:

How can I best prepare my business and my team for the months ahead?
Where do I need to focus and how can I create intentional goals for my teams?
How do I lead with purpose and support my people through times of uncertainty?

The Leading People Through Recovery Roadshow is a half-day workshop answering these questions and supporting team leaders, managers, and business owners through a post-lockdown recovery.

We will explore:

Session One: Setting the Scene for Leaders

Business Central presents an introductory session on leadership. We will cover understanding the principles of leadership vs management, understanding motivations and setting clear expectations, as well as learning about your own leadership style and how to get the most out of your team.

Session Two: Goal Setting and Business Planning

Business Coach Chris Whelan runs a session on goal setting and business planning. This session will take a particular focus on planning for success and will incorporate each of "The 6 Steps to Building a Business" a proven and progressive step-by-step approach that helps clarify company objectives and produces consistent profits over time. The six steps are the building blocks of creating a business that the owner can ultimately work 'on' and not 'in.' Each rung of the ladder in the six steps - Mastery, Niche, Leverage, Team, Synergy and Results - are dependent on one another and each works to propel the other forward.

Morning Tea Break: Presentations from Stall Holders

We invite government agencies who support business to set up a stall in our break area. Attendees will be able to talk directly to these agencies on their individual business support needs. Ahead of the morning tea break, each stall holder will present for five minutes on their business support offerings.

Session Three: Digital Innovation and Implications for Businesses

A panel discussion facilitated by Callaghan Innovation's Chief Digital Officer, Jennifer Cherrington featuring businesses that experienced incredible change in their digital capability because of COVID-19 and sharing of success stories and/or stories of failure. Followed by a discussion of next steps for supporting businesses through a changing digital landscape.

Wellington's panel includes:
- Nicole Pervan - General Manager of Products, Kiwibank
- Ian White - General Manager, ZX Security
- Craig Hudson - Managing Director, Xero

Session Four: Leading Through Change

Sally Duxfield, Experiential Architect, will round off the workshop by focusing on the neuroscience of leading teams through times of uncertainty and high stress. Leading through change has historically had a 'method' and is a subject that is delivered as a 'program', i.e. Change Management. Leading right now, through and out of extraordinary circumstances (our current reality) is a totally different beast - the 'programs' for this, have not been written yet.

We believe in helping businesses be the best they can be, because if business is going well, New Zealand is going well.

Business Central supports businesses in the Lower North Island, so we are delivering this workshop in three of our main membership centres.

2nd September – Wellington
3rd September – Palmerston North
