Join me for this free 1.5 hour long live art class to learn how to draw your own Hoiho and paint it with watercolours.

The Hoiho is a charming little penguin native to Aotearoa NZ and is one of the rarest penguin species in the world. This online art class is completely free but if you are in a position to do so please consider donating to the Yellow-eyed Penguin Trust at https://www.yellow-eyedpenguin.org.nz/support/support-donate/donations/

How to join the class:
Click 'Going' or 'Interested' to sign up on the Facebook Event and you will be notified. We will be meeting to go live at 1pm on Sunday 14th June, it will be taught via Facebook Live Video which you can view in this event or on my Facebook page.

Is this suitable for beginners/kids?
This is a 1.5 hour art session open to anyone but aimed at adults and uses minimal supplies. It is beginner friendly and an encouraging session - you do not have to share pictures of your artwork.

What supplies do I need?
I will be teaching using watercolour paints however if you don't have watercolour paints you will still be able to follow along using colour pencils or felts but the class will be geared towards painting with watercolours.

Materials List:
A pencil and Eraser
A sheet of paper (cold press watercolour paper is ideal)
Watercolour paints in Blue, Yellow, Red, and Black
Two water jars
A soft watercolour brush
A cotton rag or paper towel
Note: If you don't have paints but still want to participate bring you can use felts/coloured pencils

Is there a cost?
The class is free but I did want to suggest that if you can it would be great if you could donate to the Yellow-eyed Penguin Trust at https://www.yellow-eyedpenguin.org.nz/support/support-donate/donations/
I am in no way affiliated with the trust but this organisation does important mahi to protect this special little bird and does vital work.

Who am I?
I am a part-time artist and have been practicing for a number of years - mostly drawing plants and birds. I have been teaching online art classes here on Facebook since lockdown . All of my classes aim to take you through a process to create a complete artwork together. I am not an expert but I love to share my love of art and nature.

Hope to see you there! Please do feel free to pop any questions on the Facebook Event or through to me via a message and I will get back to you.

P.S - We have a little art group to talk about questions, art supplies and upcoming workshops. You can join here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/mbsartclub
