Looking, Seeing, Understanding and Making Art: Polynesian Art and Design

In this course we will look at the Christchurch Art Gallery Exhibition: Te Wheke. It is the work of mainly New Zealand artists who have brought their cultures, methods and materials to or from this region and influenced each other. We will also create our own work showing some understanding of these ideas, methods and materials. Techniques explored will include: drawing, painting, printmaking and installation. An interest in extending your ideas in making your own work would be good but no experience is necessary. Beginners welcome. Please bring an old shirt and $10 to give to the tutor towards the cost of materials.

Diane was formerly an HoD in Art and Art History and an Education Officer at the Christchurch Art Gallery where she still guides and occasionally teaches. She enjoys making stuff.
