Make it a Seddon Sunday Drive on the 18th October and explore your rural community.

Pack your own picnic or buy some yummy treats from one of the Seddon cafes on the way as you travel to the Awatere and East Coast for the day. This part of our Marlborough region has some fantastic scenery and great local attractions for you to explore!

On your return, stop by Tupari Wines in Seddon and purchase some local wine to enjoy once home to toast a fantastic day.
Between 1pm and 3pm on the day, you can also visit the Explore Awatere & Coastal Mini Fair. Call in to The Station Green between 1pm and 3pm for stalls and games. Test your skills in the egg and spoon race, see how far you can throw a gumboot and check your strength in the “carry your spouse race”. Watch a live sheep shearing demonstration and enjoy some tasty tucker at one of the local cafes.

Here is the programme for the day:

1pm Mini Fair opens
1:30pm Moore Shearing live display starts
2pm Games (gumboot throwing, spouse carrying, egg & spoon)
3pm Mini Fair closes

Stall holders include Seddon School, Ward School, local producer market stalls, information display on sheep/wool, deer/velvet, vines/geology, Moore Shearing live exhibition, Seddon Community Garden with seedlings to give away and H Blackwell will have a digger on display.

It’s all about supporting local.

Here are the locals’ tips of where to explore . . .

Yealands Lookout
Travel along the White Road to the Yealands lookout and enjoy stunning views across the Cook Strait from Lookout Point.
Directions: Turn onto Wakefield Street then continue onto Seaview Road.

Salt Works
Discover a seaside lake with large pink ponds and mounds that sparkle white in the summer months.

Directions: From Seddon, continue south on State Highway One for approximately 10km. Turn left into Marfells Beach Road and travel for another 3km.

Marfells Beach
Enjoy the stunning wildlife and magnificent scenery at this iconic local beach.

Directions: From Seddon, continue south on State Highway One for approximately 10km. Turn left into Marfells Beach Road and travel for another 3km.

Ward Beach
Come and check out the “earthquake rocks”. Once under water, these rocks are now exposed after the Kaikoura/Seddon earthquakes. A must do!

Directions: From Seddon, head south on state highway one for approximately 18km. Turn left onto Ward Beach Road.

Come on Marlborough, it’s time to take a drive and make it happen for Seddon, Awatere and the East Coast – come explore your rural community.
