Mrs Blackwell has been delighting young and old with her sock monkeys since 2001.
As a special event for Greytown's mid-winter Festival of Christmas she's going to teach two very limited monkey making classes.
We'll have a 1 hour break around 12:30pm so you can get some lunch and have a look around our fine village.
Each class is limited to 6 participants so we can keep a comfortable space and so Mrs Blackwell can give everyone her full attention to all monkey makers.
The class will be held in our beautiful, light filled studio space above the Blackwell & Sons Bicycle Emporium, at 110 Main Street, in Greytown.
Your class fee covers everything you need to make a monkey - you'll leave at the end of the day with a finished monkey in either pink or blue. After the class you'll have all the skills and instructions you need to make more monkeys in any colours that you like. Your course fee also includes tea, coffee, sweet treats and a special goodie bag!
Monkeys will be entirely hand-sewn using New Zealand made socks, so no machine skills necessary. If you're not already familiar with a back stitch please check out this tutorial before the class.
All proceeds from this class go to help saving Greytown's Giant Gum Tree.
