Tonight we will taste 10 wines from Marisco Vineyards In Marlborough.

Marisco Is also supplying us with a whole Lamb on the Spit and Ribeye steak, direct from thier farm at Leefield Station. There will also be other food matches from the Chefs at Aikmans.

Named after founder Brent Marris’s forebears who bore the original De Marisco surname, Marisco Vineyards combines a family history steeped in the very beginnings of grapegrowing in Marlborough with a bold entrepreneurial spirit.

Leefield Station (5 wines to taste) is a range of wines that celebrate the history of the iconic sheep and beef station located in the heart of the Waihopai Valley. Purchased in 2013 by Marisco Vineyards, the property inspired us to go back to the beginning with our winemaking approach. Defined by their authenticity, these wines embody the rustic charm and vibrant flavours that Marlborough is known for.

The King Series (5 wines to taste)
Among the twisted vines of owner Brent Marris’ ancestry was William de Marisco, said to be one of the illegitimate sons of King Henry the First. In the twelfth and thirteenth century, the de Mariscos inhabited Lundy island off the south-west coast of England, engaged in a tempestuous relationship with the monarchy of the time. At times receiving favour, and at others displeasure, the de Mariscos’ acts of piracy and treason defined their place in history. Celebrating his scandalous family history, Brent Marris presents The Kings Series.

We will be roasting the Lamb in Herbs from the Wild Fennel Company. Every one who attends this tasting will recieve a free pack of their Lamb Rub to Take home.
