Come and enjoy an evening of music with Father and Son duo Monk Party. As the duo do a loop of concerts in the South Island starting in Timaru and continuing through Oamaru, Dunedin, Alexandra, Queenstown, and finishing back in Christchurch.

Pragunya & Nelson Myers-Daly are influenced by many cultures and traditions which have shaped their music to a wide variety of sounds having similarities to African, Indian, Middle Eastern and Jazz music.

The foundation of their music is from their spiritual teacher Sri Chinmoy who has written countless short mantric songs in Bengali and Sanskrit.

The duo uses their life of meditation in harmony with these meditative songs as their foundation, creating a fount of inspiration and performance.

“We feel that music is healing and uplifts the soul, invoking a sublime feeling of peace throughout the entire being.”

The purpose of these meditative mantric-like compositions is to encourage our spiritual awakening, stimulate our deepest aspirations and nourish our inner existence. Their music has structure but also has the element of improvisation.

A music quote by Sri Chinmoy.
"When we listen to soulful music, or when we ourselves play soulful music, immediately our inner existence climbs up high, higher, highest. It climbs up and enters into something beyond. This Beyond is constantly trying to help us, guide us, mould us and shape us into our true transcendental image, our true divinity.

When we hear soulful music, or when we play a soulful piece of music, we feel a kind of inner thrill in our entire existence, from the soles of our feet to the crown of our head. A river is flowing through us, a river of consciousness, and this consciousness is all the time illumined."

Monk Party has performed throughout New Zealand also internationally including Mongolia, USA, Australia.

“It may be devotional, “ancient”, “haunting Middle Eastern” and involve mantras, but ultimately it is timeless and true world music. Recommended if you’re trying to lead a better and calmer life.” – NZ Musician Magazine
