It is with great pleasure, Neon Quaver a regular performer in the Corner Bar at the Gluepot during the 80’s; announce the performance premier of their recently recorded album, Human Time Ocean Spirit, to the Auckland Jazz and Blues Club community.
The album is new and older Quaver originals recorded at Roundhead Studios and is described as Contemporary Acoustic Jazz. David Lines sways through the piano, Nigel Gavin displays the entire range of his unique seven string semi acoustic guitar, Richard Adams vibrantly explores his violin mix of acoustic and electric enhancements with Richard Ghent colouring with Flute, Flugel Horn and three vocal tracks, one of which is Rickie Lee Jone’s Saturday Afternoons in ’63, the only cover on the CD. The compositions are melodic and flow in a manner that is cruising and pleasurable to the ear. There is no bass and drums, the absence of the rhythm section is not noticed as the dexterity of David’s piano left hand and Nigel’s seventh string low end anchor and ground the sound perfectly.
