Old Hall Gigs returns to present a special daytime gig for the whole household.

Bring your whanau and small friends along to wig out to Fun and Funner, hear Children’s Book Award winners Josh Morgan and Sacha Cotter, and catch a show by String Bean Puppets.

Featuring Karen O’Leary (Wellington Paranormal) and Tom Watson, Fun and Funner is one of New Zealand’s newest kids bands. With songs like Poo in the Wharepaku and Tippy Tippy Ballet Toes their new album Better Than Normal sets out to challenge preconceptions about what children's music should sound like. Their tunes range from punk rock to lullabies, and their all-star band charms parents and kids alike.

Illustrator Josh Morgan (Te Aitanga-a-Māhaki, Rongowhakaata) and author Sacha Cotter form the amazing storytelling/song writing/award-winning-picture-book-making team, Cotter & Morgan. They are based in Wellington, where they are partners in both books & life. Together they have created Keys/Ngā Kī, The Marble Maker/Te Kaihanga Māpere, and the 2019 Margaret Mahy Book of the Year, The Bomb/Te Pohū - all published by HUIA.

String Bean Puppets is a Wellington puppet company dedicated to sharing the wonder and magic of puppetry. Anna Bailey creates small intimate puppet shows for family audiences, and for our Old Hall Gig she’ll present The Tree Friends, an interactive puppet show for all ages about the struggle against invasive weed species!

BYO snacks, and a rug or cushions to sit on the floor with. There is a playground right next to the hall, and plenty of parking around. The gig should conclude at 5 pm, come and go at whichever time suits.
