Lake House Arts

To welcome our new Artists in Residence, we present the Lake House Residents‘ Showcase. This official introduction of our artists’ work to the Lake House Community, includes work by; Alice Cuillin, Tania Parrott, and Jeannine Friedrich. Diverse in style and genre, these three artists celebrate the broad spectrum of art inspired by Lake House Arts.

Alice Cuillin has a fascination with the natural environment and the place of humans within it. With a background in human, animal and environmental health Alice has been well placed to observe natural world interactions from molecular to ecosystem levels. A graduate of the University of Glasgow and the University of Edinburgh in Scotland and with work history in India, West Africa, North America, the Caribbean and now New Zealand, Alice brings the perspective of a global observer to bear on work investigating the relationships between plant and animal life. The strength and complexity of these systems are explored in intricate, large scale drawings in conjunction with smaller, intimate studies. Alice’s work prompts the observer to consider the fragility, the durability and the interconnectedness of the natural world.

Jeannine Friedrich is an Auckland based contemporary artist from Berlin, Germany. She is best known for her large scale vibrant abstract paintings. A common theme in Jeannine‘s work is colour combined with (wild) mark making. She finds acrylic mediums to be the perfect playground for intense layering to achieve fascinating levels of complexity. With her work the viewer will never get bored, will never be done exploring. A different angle, a different light, flip it upside down and you may come up with an entirely different painting...

TANZ is a working artist in acrylic, mixed media and clay. She has been exhibiting and selling in galleries around Auckland for 20 years. TANZ is passionate about creating beautiful things that inspire and feed the soul.
