Selwyn Community Education is based at Selwyn College, Kohimarama, Auckland.

This popular workshop will run on the following dates in 2020:
Saturday 28 March 10 AM - 4 PM or
Sunday 20 September 10 AM - 4 PM

Tutor: John Botica

Learn how to create gorgeous pebble mosaics through the precast indirect reverse method. You will be given wooden moulds to create your work, placing your pebbles into a sand bed, then grouting and pouring a concrete aggregate on top. By the end of the day you will have made your own beautiful pebble slab which could be used as an outdoor artwork or imbedded into the lawn or garden as a statement piece.

Once you understand this method, you will be able to reproduce your own pebbled slabs at home using your own designs. All materials are included in this course fee.

Who should attend: Those wanting to learn the reverse technique (this technique can be adapted for ceramic mosaic slabs). Those wanting to create a beautiful piece of garden art. Mosaicists looking to extend their skills.

About John Botica:
Hailing from Serbia, John caught the pebble mosaic bug upon receiving a book about this ancient art. As an accomplished ceramic mosaicist, John was intrigued by the possibilities of natural pebbles.

John has been involved in many private and public commission and has been awarded the honour of being named as the creator of one of the world's top 100 contemporary mosaic works by Mosaic Art Now, a leading specialist publication. The image used on this course shows John's work Tree of Life.

Tea and coffee will be provided for breaks. We encourage students to bring a sandwich for the lunch break and stay onsite at the college to mix and mingle with other course participants.

Our mission is to provide quality affordable and accessible lifelong learning opportunities for our community.
