We start our programme with the Open Mic session - a great way to begin and always varied and interesting. We welcome participation from musicians as well as poets. Then from 5pm we present our guest performers. Guest Poet Rob Hack is a Cook Island New Zealander, born in Invercargill. He writes in pencil, in cafés, cars and caravans, about a train passenger's hair, a thin laugh heard through a wall, staring out the classroom window July 11 1968, mum's lettuce and tomato sauce sandwiches disarming descriptions of everyday life and experience that take us to a place of insight and a deeper understanding of the world we live in. Guest Musicians Carol Bean and Nick Swan have both performed in Wellington and toured nationwide with various line-ups.
As a duo, they bring guitar and mandolin, banjo and vocals together to showcase songs from Carol’s albums and the dark and brooding tunes they both love from the Americana genre.
