Featuring:
The Cthulus (Auck), Deadly Sam and The Summertime Bandit and Contenders!

This event is part of a Super Saturday of creative explosion across the CBD, with Boon Hamilton Street Art festival, Mesoverse and Pecha Kucha - Creative Cities! Watch the city lights sparkle as it turns dusk with a very special Pecha Kucha Hamilton-Creative Cities following Saw Wave.

About the bands:
The Cthulus (Auckland)
Need a great soundtrack to your summer? then The Cthulus is your band! Titans of the instrumental surf guitar music, hailed as one of NZ's top surf instrumental bands. They are an incredible band to see live... in person! Think of legendary Dick Dale, The Surfaris wiping out on those summer waves with a dose of The Trashman flicking us the Surfing Bird and you have The Cthulus.

Just cause you are in Hamilton, doesn't mean you can't experience those toasty summer feels, sipping a cold beverage while feeling that river air hit your skin. Let The Cthulus' work their magic and transport you to beach fun... in Hamilton, without the annoying sand stuck in places no one wants to know about and sunstroke!

Deadly Sam and The Summertime Bandit
Sam Kimber-Bell is back with new his band, aptly named Deadly Sam and The Summertime Bandit! Deadly Sam he is... you may know him as the brilliant lead guitarist of Dick Dynamite and The Doppelgangers! As a member of Dick Dynamite with his brother Ricky Kimber-Bell, the band won the York St Band Experiments, released a video clocking up a whopping 750,000 views and counting and supported the likes of US legends Stray Cat's Slim Jim Phantom. Fresh from playing one of NZ best vintage and rockabilly festival's Rebel Round Up, you can catch them at Saw Wave.

Contenders
The Spinoff proclaimed Contenders EP as one the best underground releases of 2018. Then in 2019 95bfm realised how awesome they were and they got to number 1 in the b charts, not once but twice! Waikato Times opinion writer Richard Swainson went even further proclaiming member Cilla as one the best frontperson's Hamilton has ever seen! The band has built a strong reputation for blistering live performances, that has seen them play the likes of Future City Festival, Real Groovy's Record Day and supporting US punk legends Supersuckers and Japan legends Shonen Knife!

Many thanks to these awesome folk for supporting live local music!
Hamilton Central Business Association, Creative Communities Scheme-NZ, Trust Waikato, Wel Energy Trust, Hamilton City Council-Community Events Fund, Free FM, The HUM, ACLX and PK Sound.
