A South Island Premiere of a true rural trans love story, touring regional New Zealand.

Northland transgender couple Willow Lunicke (SHE) and Ren Lunicke (THEY) role-play talk show Q&A and with humorous scenes and stark detail about their unique transitions, domestic rural life, and love's ongoing evolution.

Preferring provincial life in rural Northland, transgender couple Willow (SHE) and Ren (THEY) are "small-town famous.” Already a long-term couple, their relationship takes an exciting new direction when both simultaneously begin their journeys into gender-affirming hormone therapy.

While welcoming physical changes, unexpected shifts in internal geography have a seismic impact on the way each relates to cis (not trans) men and women, themselves, and each other.

In this talk-show meets reality television meets sketch comedy appearance, the couple interview one another LIVE, digressing into devised and improvised storytelling to answer audience questions from their unique perspectives.

With grit, honesty, and tenderness, Willow and Ren share the surprising joys and heartbreaks of re-mapping the way to love when nurture mediates nature.

Reviews for Ren:
“As talented an actor as you will see currently on any stage in the country.” – Theatreview

“Bold, fun, and the physical humour is by far the best.” - Theatreview

“Intelligent, thought-provoking, highly entertaining and wouldn’t you know it, educational.” – Out in Perth

"Bring[s] new insights and comedy to well-trod subjects that renders the material compelling." – Now Toronto

“Lunicke’s voice is nothing but pure, personal, and honest to the point of nakedness.” – Plank Magazine

Ren Lunicke (trans non-binary, they/them pronouns) is an international performance artist (physical theatre/storytelling/comedy) who creates autobiographical works that explore connection and identity outside the conventional narratives. They established Zir Productions to support their own work and others.

Willow Lunicke (transwoman, she/her pronouns) works in the trades as a security technician. Willow is new to the stage, but that hasn’t prevented her from sharing her experiences and stories with a quick-wit and a devilish sense of humour.
