All-day experiential workshop with Sika.
Enter a beautiful world of evocative soundscapes...
Sika holds a safe space for us to drop into relaxation, with a series of healing Sound Journeys throughout the day. The sound offers us a gateway to connect with ourselves, earth and great mystery.
Sika plays intuitively, responding to the energy of the moment. His beloved collection of natural instruments open him and us to spirit. We'll hear the ancient sounds of didgeridoo, drums, native flutes, rattles and Māori Taonga pūoro (‘singing treasures’). Sika's deep sonorous voice adds to the soundscapes, as do nature recordings and foraged natural objects like leaves, sticks, bones and shells.
Sound Journeys are a shamanic style of sound bath. Like most gong/sound baths, people generally lie down and relax to the healing sounds. But the Sound Journey really is a ‘journey’ – a powerful inner experience.
The day will combine:
- Several live Sound Journeys
- Time for personal reflection / journaling
- Wisdom teachings
- Sharing together as a group
Sika is a Sound Artist based in New Zealand, known for his innovative use of ancient instruments. His music tells stories and depicts landscapes. It speaks of old relationships with trees, rocks and elemental spirits. Sika's devotion to living a path that merges nature's wisdom with contemporary culture makes him a unique and authentic presence in this emerging genre. His work reflects a lifetime of listening to the rhythms of nature.
PRACTICAL INFORMATION:
Doors open at 10.15am so we can settle into the space ready for a 10.30am start. We'll finish at 4pm.
Bring a pillow and extra blankets to make a comfortable 'nest' for yourself. People usually lie down but standing or sitting in meditation posture is also fine - in which case please bring a meditation cushion. Wearing comfortable clothing is recommended.
Please also bring along:
- A notebook for journaling
- A bottle of water
- A packed lunch/snacks
