Southern Zone South Island Championship

The Southern Zone South Island Championship will be managed by Southern Zone Rugby League and will feature a team from Otago, Southland, Aoraki and West Coast, competing in a single round-robin competition. A final will then be played between the top two placed teams after round-robin play to determine the winner of the South Island Trophy. The district that wins this tournament will progress to the NZRL National Championship Final managed by New Zealand Rugby League. The winner of the South Island Championship will play the winner of the North Island Championship.
