The awesome Hampton Downs national circuit in the North Waikato is the venue this season for the Denny Hulme Trophy meeting over the weekend of February 1st and 2nd.

This year there’s a spectacular line up that's sure to keep the kids and the adults enthralled just one more time before the school holidays come to an end.

With the brand new specification Castrol Toyota Racing Series cars - packing more power, more downforce and more grip than ever before, this is set for some spectacular racing. The Castrol TRS series offers Super Licence points that are the keys to the kingdom of Formula 1 for young up and coming drivers and they will be out in their droves trying to win one of the three races on the cards over the Hampton Downs weekend. The big race itself - for the Denny Hulme Trophy - takes place on the Sunday afternoon as the climax to the weekend but there's endless on-track entertainment on the Saturday and Sunday as the weekend builds towards the feature race.

A contrast in style and speed the Ssangyong Actyon Utes may well be, but the racing in this hard fought category of utes is as fierce and competitive as anything on New Zealand circuits today. It’s a guarantee that they will be a crowd pleaser at Hampton Downs over the weekend as much as they are at other events on their championship calendar. If you like your Utes a bit more powerful, then the NZ V8 utes are also in action this weekend, with their 400 plus horsepower engines powering an all Ford vs Holden battle.

Adding yet more speed and spectacle to this amazing meeting will be the TRADEZONE GTRNZ fields. This category runs two grids at Speed Works MotorSport NZ Championship events - it's anything goes GT1/2 field and its slightly more sedate, but no less exiting, GT3/4 field. Some of the country's fastest cars race in the GT1/2 field, including a selection of prototype sports car machinery and it will be fascinating to see how their lap times stack up over the weekend against the new single seater cars. The top guns in the field will be out to prove the new kids on the block cannot match them for speed or spectacle so watch out for cars turned up to the max - and in some cases that means more than 1,000 horsepower!

More screaming saloons come in the shape of the NEXEN Tyre Pro 7 Mazda field - out in force over the weekend with rotary powered RX7 and RX8 classes, as well as MX5s. And adding to the single seater flavour of the weekend are Hi-Q Components Formula First and the refreshed New Zealand Formula Ford 1600 Championship.

Rounding out a spectacular list of categories at this fantastic event are the mighty racers of the Pirelli Porsche Championship, which sees modern and more classic racing machinery from the iconic German brand fighting it out for overall and class honours.
It all comes together to make an unmissable two days of racing action that genuinely does offer something for everyone and action from start to finish.
