Studying science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM) can offer a ticket to all kinds of epic adventures!

This year, for the United Nations’ International Day of Women and Girls in Science, we are proudly celebrating the achievements of women in STEM fields locally and around the globe.

What challenges did they face as women in science? How did their studies shape their careers?

Hear from Dr Carolina Loch Silva (Association for Women in the Sciences), Victoria Sugrue (Mothers in Science), and Professor Michelle Glass (Head of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the University of Otago) about their STEM careers and experiences.

Then, join us for a live video call with Dr Alexandra (Sasha) Rahlin at the South Pole Telescope. Dr Rahlin is a recipient of the 2020 Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics for her contribution to the first-ever image of a black hole using the Event Horizon Telescope. She will be joined by other South Pole colleagues to talk about what it is like to do scientific research at the bottom of the world.

Be part of this International Day of Women and Girls in Science and find out how careers in STEM are helping us understand and change our world.
