Jay Hutchinson is a New Zealand artist based in Dunedin who works with textiles with a focus on hand-embroidery. Originally from a street art background, a project for his MFA titled ‘Concrete to Textile’ at the Blue Oyster Art Project Space, 2006, involved Hutchinson recreating a series of graffitied walls into elaborate hand-embroidered panels. Hutchinson completed his MFA in 2008 and has since exhibited extensively throughout New Zealand as well as Australia and China.
