The Air Conditioning & Plumbing Stockcar King of the Arena, a relatively new Championship event in conjunction with the Manawatu Speedway Club, roars into life this Saturday night at the Robertson Holden International Speedway The event has drawn competitors from around the country and features an individual title for Stockcars with one of the largest prize pools on offer for Stockcars in the 20/21 Season.

With over 40 Stockcars confirming their attendance, the manic night of metal-crunching action is guaranteed. Current national champion Ben Smith from Nelson is making the trek North, as well as 2NZS Tyler Walker, will lead the charge from Taranaki, part of a strong contingent from the lower North Island tracks. With a plethora of Palmerston North registered talent ready to defend local hopes. The field will be whittled down to 30 after qualifying, and a three heat final to crown the Air Conditioning & Plumbing Ltd Stockcar King of the Arena Champion.

The OST Minisprint Series is also in town with their 5 round championship series, a stellar line up of 1nz Shane Dewar, 2nz Ben Vaughan and 3nz Bayley Betts with early indications suggesting the field will be full of Palmerston North, Stratford, Wanganui and Huntly based competitors is one of the highlights on the Minisprint calendar.

The future of Speedway – the Sallan Realty Youth Ministock Stampede is already being well discussed as to who looks to be the favourites in this championship. With several youth competitors from around the North Island making their way to the Robertson Holden International Speedway for the title, local drivers including Max Lowe, Conor Linklater, former Rookie of the Year Rhys White and Wade Bengston are in title contention after their successful opening meeting.

The Midgets are returning with a strong contingent of local competitors hitting the dirt before their Manawatu Championship the following weekend. Karl McGill is one to watch, coming from a successful campaign in the Minisprint class, Chris Bagrie another long-serving midget competitor who is always at the pointy end of the field as well as other notable names indicating they are making the trek to the Robertson Holden International Speedway.

Closing out this massive night is the Demon Energy Ramp Derby; you’ll be in fits of laughter at the antics of the Demolition Derby cars as they leap over the ramp on their way to total destruction. This is always a crowd favourite, and the thrills and spills of the Demon Energy Ramp Derby are always talked about long after the event.

Gates for entry are on Waldegrave & Pascal Streets and these gates open from 4:30pm. Gates accept both Cash & EFTPOS Payments (no credit card) but in order to move the line quickly, we recommend coming prepared with cash. There will be plenty of food vendors on site which accept cash & EFTPOS payments.
