Come and explore one of Christchurch’s brand-new regional parks with the Styx Living Laboratory Trust and enjoy a day in the sun. Bring your friends and family for a walk with local experts through eight hectares of planted native forest, natural waterways and lakes and/or kayak along a section of the Styx River whilst learning about the Styx River and Kā Pūtahi Creek.
Try your hand at a range of fun activities related to environmental monitoring, research and citizen science involving local wildlife, plants, water quality, Māori cultural values and local history.
Kayaking, guided walks, bird monitoring, Māori medicinal plants, weaving, scavenger hunt, pest control, native insects and fish, planting, wildlife management and much more!
