What is Soul? “When I think of Soul, a lot comes to mind - you think of artists such as Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, James Brown, Aretha, Earth Wind & Fire, Motown, disco balls, vinyl, bass lines, brass ensembles and a whole lot of dancing. We associate Soul to genres such as funk, R&B, blues, jazz and disco. The list could go on but I think a key component of Soul music is the emotions you experience when you sing, dance, play and/or hear it. It’s feel-good, positive vibes and that’s exactly the type of feeling I get when I hear a live band pumping out the classic soul tunes”.
