Blending yoga, ballet, contemporary, salsa, disco, kapa haka, folk and line dance, this fun and friendly class is aimed at dancers who want to feel more energised and body-confident…

The Art of Dance will improve your strength, balance and coordination. Dancing to fun music, you’ll connect with other dancers in a welcoming and supportive environment. All levels of experience are welcome.

Tutor Merenia Gray adheres to the Treaty of Waitangi through tikanga and her holistic approach to teaching through Te Ao Maori.

Please note, there is no class on 19 November and casual classes are available for $20 per class at TAPAC reception (cash/eftpos available).

Teaching artist Merenia Gray

With more than 30 years of extensive national and international dance experience on stage and behind the scenes, Merenia is a graduate of the New Zealand School of Dance. An award-winning dancer and choreographer, she has performed with Taiao Dance Theatre, Footnote Dance Company, Auckland Dance Company, Artgenossen in Munich and Upper Cut Danse Teatre in Copenhagen. Her choreographic works include Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Song and Dance, Māui–One Man against the Gods, The Montana World of Wearable Arts, Entangled for the Royal New Zealand Ballet and numerous works for Footnote Dance Company and her own company, Merenia Gray Dance Theater, (MGDT). Merenia has taught dance in education in primary and secondary schools throughout New Zealand. She has completed a 4 year tenure on the Board of Directors for DANZ Aotearoa and has subsequently been appointed to the Board of Trustees of the New Zealand Dance Advancement Trust for the New Zealand Dance Company.
