After the Postponement of the 2020 event we will all be looking forward to The Autumn Colours Outing - 2021.

To give you a brief overview of what we are doing over this weekend.

This Autumn Colours Outing event is a very relaxing and enjoyable event for those who really like Central Otago at this time of the year with the last of the good weather and those beautiful Otago colours!

Now, this coming year’s “Autumn Colours Outing” event. It is running over the weekend of April 10 & 11. This event is a developing event and each year we have had a differing route from the Dunedin area to Arrowtown.

To date we have had pretty good luck with good weather and a couple of years where we had a dusting of snow on the mountain tops over night which added to it all!

Each vehicle is given detailed route instructions and other information to help get them to each of the organised food stops over the weekend. The main idea of the trip is for everyone to enjoy the fellowship of those around them and relax.

Many of the questions we are asked are more or less the same – so I’ll try to answer them here...

What is your goal with this event?
To bring an enthusiastic motoring group together to showcase Dunedin city and the areas of beauty right through to Arrowtown. Strong fellowship factor, making it a very memorable and relaxing time away hoping many will come again and again.

How many people have taken part in past years?
Over the past seventeen Autumn Colours Outing events we have had as many as 110 people and around 50 vehicles.

How long has the tour been going for?
Since 2003 – each year and normally runs in the month of April.

Is it mostly classic cars that take part?
No, this event is open to any type of vehicle (old to new) who would like to travel and see the Colours in a different kind of way.
What are particular notable sights along this route?
Dunedin historic architecture, Coastal visors, colours and landscapes, river valleys, views of the Southern Alps, mountain passes, southern lakes, beautiful scenery at every turn along the way!

Do most people stay the night in Arrowtown?
Yes, but many are staying where ever they wish. In most cases the entrants like to socialise in the evening together and meet new people.

Where are the Saturday & Sunday lunch stops?
The food stops are not advised to the entrants, but as the trip unfolds the venues are discovered! Like the Saturday, morning tea & lunch are organised and the Sunday luncheon is provided before the farewells.

This year we have a Special running of the Mainland Classic Tour that picks up when the this one concludes. Go to our website to check it out.
