The Big Conversation

Philip Tremewan has agreed to facilitate out Big Conversation, to open our Festival. The topic is ‘Tourism – Tipping Point?’, and he will be joined by Meg Taylor, Sarah Bennett and Max Rushbrooke. The topic was chosen before the virus hit, but it is even more topical now.

Philip will be familiar to Central Otago people as the Director of Festival of Colour, Wanaka. He will be joined by Meg Taylor, of Riverrun Luxury Lodge, merino farmer and former Kathmandu co-founder. She is outspoken on the threat of over-tourism in our region. Sarah Bennett has worked as a travel writer since 2003, and became a writer for Lonely Planet in 2004. Sarah has a passion for ethical and sustainable travel. Max Rushbrooke is a writer, journalist and art reviewer, and is the 2020 J D Stout Fellow at Victoria University. His work appears in the Guardian.
