Contrary to meat, potato and three veg, early cookbooks published in Palmerston North (and New Zealand) encouraged home cooks to try recipes inspired by dishes around the world. From aspirational French recipes to Russian Fish pie, Mulligatawny soup or German Biscuits these show that our palates of the past were adventurous and the cooks ambitious.
A selection of tastes from historic recipes will be offered.
