COVID-19 UPDATE - KAPITI RUN FOR YOUTH GOES VIRTUAL
Due to NZ entering alert level 4 we want to remind everyone that you can go for a walk or run to get fresh air. HOWEVER, you can only do that alone or with others that are in your bubble. If you see other people, don't stop to chat, just smile and wave and remember to apply the 2m social distance rule.

You can register online and to do a short walk or run in your neighbourhood and then sponsor your own profile $5 as every little bit counts for our Fundraising Partners at this time. We will not be getting together on Sun 29 Mar however we are working hard behind the scenes as we have a significant amount of money to reconcile later in Apr and to payout to them.

BACKSTORY
The Web Genius Kapiti Run for Youth (KR4Y) raiseS funds and fitness for Kapiti’s youth while having great fun strolling or running along the beautiful Kapiti coastline.

KR4Y has raised more than $120,000 for youth of Kapiti since inception in 2011. In 2019 the event raised $20,698. In the beginning KR4Y was created by Web Genius as their way as a local business to ‘give back’ to the community so, nearly a decade on we can proudly say the event is sustainable and is popular with all sorts, young and old, the fit and not so fit.

KR4Y will open for registration closer to the event and at that time will be seeking individuals and groups (businesses, schools, teams, clubs, organisations etc) to get together to walk or run from Paraparaumu Beach (Maclean Park) to Raumati Beach and back. For those choosing the 12km walk or run, they will do two circuits of the course.

There are four great options to choose from:
- 12 km walk
- 6km walk
- 12km run
- 6km run

Registration takes place from 8.45am to 10am with all walkers and runners starting together at 10.15am.

Once your profile is set-up online, let your family, friends and work mates know so they can sponsor your efforts. There is a $20 qualifying fee that can be raised through sponsorship and all entrants will receive regular campaigns to motivate your sponsorship efforts along the way.

We are family friendly event – baby buggies and crowd friendly dogs on leads are welcome.

Bring your sunhat, sunscreen and water on the day. There are sponsored prizes, treats for the kids, certificates for everyone participating.

Go to the website to register or sponsor someone.

All registrations and sponsorship are handled securely and confidentially on the KR4Y website.

Business Sponsorship 2020 - 57 confirmed sponsors to the value of $15,000
Business sponsorship (Gold $500, Silver $250, Bronze $125) is also available which works for many businesses who want to support the underlying work of this event and the youth of Kapiti. In 2019 we achieved 51 local business sponsorships to value of $11,625 which can be viewed on the KR4Y website. Sponsorship for the 2020 campaign will start late in January 2020.

Fundraising Model
Our fundraising model focuses on returning as much money as we can back to the Kapiti community to those working with youth. This means that all funds raised are split 70% to the official Fundraising Partner chosen by the participant at the time of registration and 30% is retained towards running and promotion of the event.

To be a registered Fundraising Partner you need to be working in the ‘youth space’ in Kapiti – view 2019 Fundraising Partners on our website.

2020 Fundraising Partners include: Challenge for Change, Kapiti Basketball Association, Kapiti College, Kapiti Youth Support, Otaki College, Paraparaumu College, The Shed Project Kapiti, ZEAL Kapiti, 49 Squadron Air Cadets.

KR4Y is Proudly Sponsored by:
Beach FM, City Fitness, Kapiti Business Projects, Kapiti Candy Co, Kapiti Hire, Kapiti Law, Kapiti Pure Water, Kapiti News, Peter Jackson Plumbing, R-Line, Shoe Clinic, SignCraft Kapiti, 16Nine Photography, Web Genius
