That’s right. The time has finally come for the usually-in-Sydney-when-pandemics-aren’t-happening Tom Botting to record his indie-jazz classics for posterity. The place? The Rogue and Vagabond, quite possibly NZ’s best pub. The time? Monday the 13th of July 7pm.

Tom has been sitting on this clutch of compositions for a few years now and it’s finally time for them to hatch and be released into the wild. Recording the tunes live comes with it’s own set of challenges, but interactive music like this really shines in a live setting and it is that type of energy that Tom is trying to commit to tape here, particularly in a year that has suffered a massive loss in terms of live performance. So get down to the Rogue and bring your best hand claps and WOOYEAHs and become a part of history! (or at least part of an excellent night of hangs and friends and music).

This gig is also going to be LIVE STREAMED through the internets. People keep saying the internet is going to be huge so we here at Botting headquarters thought we should keep ahead of the curve and use the https to send live music to the world! In all seriousness, we are very lucky in Aotearoa to be able to start getting some normalcy back in our lives (and do things like watch a gig or touch other humans) but a lot of the world is not quite there yet and if they feel like listening to some hectic indie-jazz in real time we’d like to make sure it’s available.

Tom Botting - Bass and Compositions
Callum Allardice - Guitar
Jake Baxendale - Alto Sax
Daniel Hayles - Piano
Hikurangi Schaverien-Kaa - Drums and Cymbals

Large amounts of thanks must be given to Creative New Zealand and Thelonious Records for their generous support of this project.
