Presenter Edmond Otis was appointed to an academic teaching role at EIT in 2008, holds a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Studies/Psychology (1981) and Post Graduate Diploma in Critical Incident Debriefing (1995) from the University of California, Riverside; and a Master of Science in Counselling Psychology and Systems Theory (1991) from Loma Linda University (LLU).

In sport, Edmond is an internationally recognised instructor, coach, official and examiner in traditional karate. He has coached numerous individuals and teams to national (USA) and international championships, and has personally developed many high-ranking instructors.

Edmond is a licensed psychotherapist, and since 1993 has practiced individual, group, and family therapy, along with clinical supervision in private practice and for public agencies.

Edmond is the author of texts, articles, and educational videos that focus on essential karate principles and technique. His recent research focus has been; Youth Resilience, Developing Winning Sport Cultures, Sideline Behaviour in Sport, and the Impact of “Lean Thinking” on Health Providers.

Professionally, and personally, Edmond is most interested in understanding the multitude of ways that thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and relationships impact our performance, our health, and our quality of life.
