Thundercat Racing will be back to Coromandal January 2020, as crews battle for the National Championship in this high speed, high adrenaline, wave jumping motorsport.

Thundercat Racing is a high adrenaline motorsport with explosive wave jumping and tight competitive racing in a tunnel hulled inflatable boat. This surf-cross event all takes place on a 'W' shaped circuit that is 200m x 300m. Boat's race in only 30cm of water, making spectating from the beach up close and exciting, with boats jumping over waves to heights of up to 12 feet as they head back out around the course!

Boats are powered by an outboard motor with a crew of only two people who must work together seamlessly to attack waves and navigate sharp turns around the course.

"Coromandal has historically been a favourite for competitors given the often gnarly conditions and the overwhelming local support”, says club president Michael Graves who himself races in the Bathrooms By Elite boat. Graves added "this format and location was a huge success last season, so we are back to do it again in 2020"

Thundercat Racing is free to spectators of all ages and the races take place in virtually any weather conditions so there is no rain check. For a full calendar of Summer Thunder including the offshore enduro races visit www.thundercatracing.co.nz.
