Gather friends and whānau to celebrate with us at the opening of the largest exhibition in the Gallery's 132-year history.
Toi Tū Toi Ora Contemporary Māori Art officially opens on Sat 5 Dec and we have a huge line-up of activities, performances and more to kick things off.
As well as exploring the Gallery-wide exhibition itself, enjoy contemporary dance, kapa haka, taonga puoro, hāngi food available to purchase, and live music.
Programme for Sat 5 Dec:
All day: Special menu items at the Gallery café, including offerings from Karena and Kasey Bird (Masterchef)
11am—8pm: Hāngi food for sale (Kitchener Street)
11am—3pm: Whānau drop in (North Atrium)
11.30am—3pm: Taonga puoro music in the exhibition
12—3pm: Flax flower-making
12pm, 1pm, 2pm: Hīkoi to Britomart
1—3pm: Atamira Dance Company performances on the hour (Forecourt)
4.30pm: Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Hoani Waititi kapa haka performance (North Atrium)
5pm: Bar opens (East Terrace)
5—6pm: Spoken word poetry (South Atrium)
7—8.30pm Spoken word poetry and live music by Troy Kingi (East Terrace)
