Waikato Youth Music Competition

This competition is a part of our project ‘Tunes of Waikato’. The aim is to exclusively support and promote the original music of the youth from the Waikato Region. Last year 22 groups participated in this competition, and we look forward to another successful event this time around.

Waikato Rocks Trust is inviting your students to participate and show their talents to the people of Waikato, New Zealand and to the world.

The top 4 musicians/groups are selected by 4 judges. Each of our winners gets to record 2 of their songs at The Porch Recording studio, perform in 10 gigs and are given the opportunity to participate in mentoring sessions provided by successful musicians and professionals in the music industry. The songs of the winning groups will be promoted worldwide through online aggregators. Our last year winners’ songs have been played more than 30,000 times online within a few weeks!

All the participants should be between 12-24 years of age, any genre of music is welcomed and must be their own original compositions.
