A new display of original vintage clothing at The Pointon Collection of Cars & Costume features winter fashions covering three decades. From WW11 wool frocks, carefully made by the home dressmaker using precious fabrics and then beautifully finished with old buttons, buckles or embroidery. Worn with smart hats and maybe a fur.
In the 50's we have everything from a handknitted dress to the classic grey serge costume with nipped in waist and straight skirt. Plus for that special occasion full skirted dresses of velvet. The 1960's display ranges from wool plaid trousers & skirts with camel hair coats to mini dresses in wool, jersey knit & crimplene in gorgeous colours. Come and reminisce about the clothes you wore through these years. The men haven't been forgotten either, with the smart man about town featuring the ever popular sports coat and even a college boy in uniform - and of course all those old cars that were on the roads way back then.
This display continues until November 1st. Open most days 10 - 4, ring Gaye on 06 3786710 to check. Groups welcome by arrangement. Charges do apply with no EFTPOS. Check our website for more information.
