This unique dance experience provides a different perspective on the way art forms connect with and respond to our lives. Watch This Space at the Govett-Brewster will include an excerpt of Undercurrent, a double-bill of new dance work that will be performed at the TSB Showplace the next night, Thursday 5 Nov 6:30 PM as part of Reset Festival 2020.
This is your chance to see some of New Zealand's best dancers in action!

About Watch This Space

Arising from a two-fold objective to develop audiences and reach a wider arts interested audience in their own space, has seen the evolution of a strong partnership programme with art galleries.
A physical and dance response to exhibitions of art, sculpture, or installations give another perspective to the way that art connects and responds to our lives.
Essentially an improvisational ‘happening’, Watch This Space occurs in gallery spaces and has had a varied number of approaches from an on-the-spot response to dialogue between dancers and the artists about their processes and work.

For more on Footnote Dance, see Undercurrent at the TSB Showplace as part of the Reset 2020 Festival.

To complement Watch This Space, there will be a screening of the film Cunningham at the Len Lye Cinema at 2pm, following the performance. The film traces the iconic career of Merce Cunningham, from his early years as a struggling dancer in post-war New York, to his emergence as one of the world's most visionary choreographers. A breath-taking explosion of dance, music, and never-before-seen archival material, Cunningham is a timely tribute to one of the world's greatest modern dance artists.
