With venues closed and gatherings cancelled, it’s important to find a way to keep quizzing!

Zoom (https://zoom.us/) is a free teleconferencing system that we will use to host the quiz. I will post the Zoom meeting link on the Meetup event page at 6:45 pm. Just click the Zoom meeting link to join the quiz.

To keep it simple for marking purposes (at least for a start), here is the format:

1. No team names are required, just your actual name. (Due to lockdown, many players will be playing individually, unless you can play as a team with your partner/housemates).
2. The quiz will consist of six rounds, each with ten questions. So a perfect quiz would be 60/60. See the round titles for Week 1 below.
3. There will be no Joker rounds, Ponderous Puzzle or List.
4. There will be a drinks/marking break (15min) after the first three rounds. At that point, a halfway score update will be given. We will need to log out and log in to a new Zoom meeting due to the 40 minute Zoom meeting time limit.
5. The quizmaster will read each question, then post each question on the Zoom meeting group chat for easy reference.
6. Answers are to be e-mailed to a nominated e-mail address after each round. To keep things tidy, please use an e-mail address containing your actual name if possible. Once the correct answers are readout for each round, they too will be posted on the Zoom meeting group chat for easy reference.
7. There will be 20 spots available, with a waiting list. Please be considerate to those on the waiting list who will miss out if you don’t turn up when you said you would.
8. We can take it in turns being quizmaster, volunteers requested for Week 2 (Tue 7 April) and beyond!

ROUNDS (Week 1 – Tuesday, March 31)

1. Dad Jokes (warm-up by providing the punchlines to ten clean but awful jokes).
2. Geography
3. Music
Drinks/Marking break (15min)
4. Pot Luck
5. Sports & Games
6. Science & Nature

Cheating in a virtual quiz is even easier than a live one, so don’t ruin it by Googling! (Do I even need to say this?)
