Join ceramic artist Tracy Keith in a special free workshop on clay construction at Wainuiomata Community Hub, and make your own ceramic vessels.

Tracy’s work is featured in the exhibition ‘Dirty Ceramics’ currently on at The Dowse until 15 March. His practice explores the whakapapa of clay by working the material intuitively by hand and enjoying the wildness of raku to fire his works.

His process often involves an entrancing rhythmic sculpting method, slapping the clay to create the form.

The workshop is suitable for beginners, but intermediate makers are welcome. With Tracy’s help, you’ll develop a knowledge of clay construction, and try your hand at creating a diverse range of works.

It’s adults only, so you need to be at least 18 years old to take part. Each session is limited to 10 participants, so be sure to book ahead via Eventbrite – places will fill fast!

About Tracy Keith:
Tracy Keith was a Visual Arts tutor for 17 years at Te Wananga o Aotearoa and is currently a Contract Senior Art Technician at Massey University College of Creative Arts Toi Rauwharangi, Te Whanganui-a-Tara.

Tracy creates work in various art mediums but has developed a special relationship with clay that began 23 years ago at Waiariki Polytechnic where he has been making and exhibiting his work ever since. Tracy’s art practice reflects the long, evolving journey of human civilisation – physical, intellectual and spiritual, culminating in modernity.
