A youth improv workshop at New Zealand Improv Festival!

This Youth workshop is aimed at players of all experience levels, aged 11- 17. It is an introduction to the technique of active listening. You have the opportunity to practise being the moment, connecting with a scene partner, and listening beyond the words.

The teacher:
Austin Harrison has been teaching improv for the past 8 years, starting out coaching Theatresports teams down in Otautahi Christchurch before moving to Wellington and joining local companies Playshop and The Improvisers. In 2018 he co-founded the Victoria University of Wellington improv club MMMPOP IMPROV.

Austin has run workshops across the local theatre and improv community. He was a tutor for Victoria University's first ever Improv and Comedy paper in 2019 and has run workshops with local performance companies including VUWAE and Wairarapa's Harlequin Theatre Company. In 2019, he was one of the tutors of the New Zealand Improv Festival Youth Programme. He holds a Master of Fine Arts (Creative Practice) in Theatre from Te Herenga Waka, Victoria University of Wellington.

NZ Improv Fest invites lovers of improvised theatre everywhere to join us in celebrating the art form we all know and love this 3-11 October, from wherever you are and wherever you're at. Join us in Wellington, or connect with us online, in a celebration of world class, local talent!
