Yuki Nakano, hailing from Kyoto, Japan. Moved to NewZealand to begin his kiwi winemaking career in 2016. Making only 900 bottles during his first vintage in Martinborough, before moving to Nelson in 2017 where he found the sunny, temperate days and rich, clay soils of the Moutere more suited to his preferred style of winemaking.

On his small organic vineyard on the Bronte peninsula, he is incredibly meticulous as he works his way through the changing seasons. This level of care follows the grapes into the winery, where he refuses to add, nor take away anything during the winemaking process. Allowing his wine to be a complete, natural expression of the place and time in which the grapes were grown.

Yuki has now made wine in multiple countries, including Australia, Japan and Italy with Nelson being his current base and priority. This diversity of knowledge has allowed Yuki to create his own unique style, whilst continuously adapting to the environment, he finds himself in. You’ll find his wines have a mix of traditional Italian flare, Australian richness, Japanese precision, and Kiwi freshness.
