This class will be taught by Debbie Sumner & Sn. Prabhavananda/Thomas Spring.

Debbie is excited to be leading a Yin session on the Thursday afternoon at the IYTA Gathering. Yin is a passive approach to Yoga, we encourage the muscles to relax, allowing the body to soften targeting the Yin tissues of the body. In this particular session we will be opening the heart space, tuning into the element of fire. The fire energy inside ignites us to connect with our passions, to be open hearted, to connect with community, to feel joy and abundance.

Debbie Sumner is a Yoga and Dance teacher based in the Nelson/Tasman area. She teaches regular Hatha and Yin classes as well as workshops and retreats. Debbie studied Yoga with Santosha Yoga institute and Shanti Atma Yoga.

Sn.Prabhavananda will be leading through various pranayama, Yoga Nidra with chakra awareness sounds and a mediation on the heart space.

He had the good fortune to train at the Bihar School of Yoga, the first Yoga University in the world. I have come to appreciate the ancient yogic philosophy with it’s scientific, practical applications in daily life. Since 2017 I am attending progressive Yoga Vidya training with the focus to connect and imbibing yoga vidhya, the essence of yogic knowledge and the traditional tradition. He has taught courses and workshops within New Zealand, Australia, USA, Germany and Switzerland.
This talk is part of the Nelson 2020 Gahtering organised by Yoga Aotearoa/ International Yoga Teachers Association NZ.
