Sophie Gray, former editor of Food magazine and food director for Bauer media is also known as the “destitute gourmet”. She is the author of 10 bestselling cookbooks with a focus on fashionable food that doesn’t cost a fortune and is a popular and entertaining speaker and presenter on food, family life and finances.
Sophie’s passion for the real deal is compelling and her honesty about her own experiences of feeding a family on a low budget are frank and relatable; making her a champion for the average kiwi household and the go to for media comment on food-related issues.
She has a large engaged community of followers on her destitute gourmet Facebook and Instagram accounts and has been a regular columnist for Healthy Food Guide, About Kids, Food magazine, Simple Savings Australia and Taste Magazine among others, writing for and developing recipes specific to everyday households watching their budget.
