Featuring an exciting new solo exhibition entitled "Angels" of rising Hawkes Bay artist Debra Thompson. Focusing on popular culture in bright colours and large sizes, a dynamic collection of stars, an ode to beauty and success.
Debra has painted as a traditional artist for many years doing mostly post-impressionist styled acrylics on canvas inspired by the Fauvists and the Post Impressionists.
Since 2017 she has been working in a new style of urban-inspired works in the subject of popular culture and iconic people. The technique is a mixed medium on board. Debra is aiming to achieve a feeling of freedom in her art, to give the viewers permission to be transpired into a new, modern world.
Her influences are mostly pop artists like Andy Warhol, Voka and street artists like Banksy and Samo.
