Our annual skin cancer awareness clinics held in Picton and Blenheim provide a forum for local people to detect early signs of skins cancer and provide the change for early intervention.

This clinic also provide an opportunity for education and encouragement to perform regular skin checks and reassurance for those who may have nothing to be concerned about. Several skin specialists and GP from Marlborough, Wellington and Nelson are invited to support these clinics.

We're back to the Convention Centre, where people can come along between 2pm - 7pm and wait for a slot to see a specialist or GP - no appointments are necessary. People are checked and referred for urgent treatment by a consultant or urged to follow up with their GP as appropriate. The clinics are free to the community, open to anyone, however we do ask for a donation to contribute to our running costs.

We look forward to welcoming you on Friday 19th February between 2pm - 7pm for the Blenheim Skin Awareness Clinic.

Please call our office on 03 579 4379 or email us on Marlborough@cancersoc.org.nz with any questions.

Early Detection of Skin Cancer
Finding skin cancer early is the key to successful treatment. Most of us have spots on our skin - that’s quite normal. However, get to know your skin so that you can notice any changes - be on the lookout for:
- Any new or changing spot, freckle or mole.
- A mole or spot that doesn’t heal.
- A mole, freckle or spot that looks different from others around it.
- A mole, freckle or spot that has change d in size, thickness, shape, colour or has started to bleed.

*Please don’t wait for our skin cancer awareness clinics to confirm any changes that you notice - speak to your health professional as soon as you notice changes.

SunSmart protection
Sun damage accumulates over the years from prolonged outdoor exposure, even from simple activities like walking the dog and collecting the mail. Preventing skin cancer and being SunSmart require a comprehensive approach - ensure your skin and eyes are protected from UV radiation between the hours of 10am - 4pm, from September to April.
