Hangarua Workshops present our Bookbinding workshop:
The aim of this workshop is to assemble rubbish to archive or create a personal waste diary to acknowledge our own waste making and the potential that everyday objects have. We encourage participants to bring with them their own rubbish that can be put together to create an abstract book. We will provide some discarded book covers that might inspire makers and methods/ tools to bind the materials.
Participants have an option to bring their own rubbish to these workshops which could consist of:
Everyday waste that you might find in your bin, handbag, car door, miscellaneous drawer, clutter or broken items – used paper, old receipts, clean film, food packets, plastic bits or a snapped phone charger.
Tools/ methods that we will provide but are not limited to:
We will bring book covers and other interesting waste objects that we will bind together by sewing, knitting, tying, taping, ironing, gluing, wrapping and stapling.
